Becoming a canoe slalom judge in Italy is a long professional path, which requires passion and commitment. The judge career is strictly regulated by the Federation and involves a numerous steps at national level before arriving at the international exam.
Once this has been passed, in order to participate in level 1 events (Olympics and World Championships) and level 2 events (World Cups) it is necessary to obtain the ICF IJCSL (International Judge Canoe Slalom) qualification. This is assigned after a training course carried out on competition fields during high-level events. The path considers aspects not only of a regulatory nature, but also of a behavioral and social nature.
Judge Giuseppe D’Angelo talks to us about all this. Peppino, as he is known on the circuit, has dedicated his life to canoeing, first as an athlete and then as a judge.
